Supercats Highly Ranked in SEABL 2010 Statistical Awards

The St Laurence Geelong Supercats are once again broadly represented across all categories of the statistical awards for the Crazy John’s SEABL South Conference regular season.

Isma’il Muhammad, who was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year on Wednesday, had the highest points per game average of 22.22 ppg. Nathan Herbert was 3rd (21.64) and J’Nathan Bullock 10th (18.67).

Herbert (52.6%) was 4th in Field goal percentage  and Muhammad (50.0%) 7th. In Free throw shooting it was Herbert 3rd (88.2%) narrowly defeating Braith Cox 4th (88.1%) with the pair just behind NW Tasmania’s Ben Armstrong (88.3%).

Geelong figured well in the three point shooting category with Jamie Medved 2nd (44.2%), Herbert 3rd (42.7%), Cox 8th (41.0%) and Bullock 9th (40.2%).

In the rebounding stakes, Muhammad was 9th in offensive rebounds (2.85/game), 2nd in defensive (6.81/game) and 5th in overall rebounds (9.67/game) while Bullock (2.78/game) was 10th on the offensive glass.

The Supercats figured well in the steals category with Herbert (1.64/game) 2nd, Muhammad (1.26/game) 6th and Bullock (1.15/game) 10th.

It was another great season of assists with Muhammad 3rd (4.15/game) and Cox 8th (3.5/game). Muhammad rounded off his great season by also being 4th in the blocked shots category (1.37/game).

To top it off, Herbert was 9th in the Golden Hands award which rates steals plus assists less turnovers and is an award normally reserved for point guards.
