The St Laurence Geelong Supercats announced today that long serving player Jason Reardon who has played 165 games with the club, averaging 15.6 points and 7.5 rebounds has played his last game.
Despite a strong start to the season Jason felt he no longer had the passion or desire for the time commitment involved in playing at the elite level, and playing on without that total commitment would not be fair on his teammates or the coaching staff.
Jason met with club officials on Wednesday afternoon and following that meeting the club accepted Jason’s decision, and he has been let out of his contract.
Coach Jamie O’Loughlin said “Jason has been very successful in the SEABL winning many awards and being part of the Supercats 2006 National Championship team”, he went on to say that “losing a player of Jason’s calibre is going to be a further challenge for the squad but will provide opportunity for other players in the group”.
Jason whilst not playing with the St Laurence Geelong Supercats has indicated he may like to continue his basketball with Geelong Basketball through the VBL program. The Supercats wish Jason all the best for the future.
