The St Laurence Geelong Supercats are excited to announce the signing of their second American Import J’Nathan Bullock for the 2010 Season. At 196cm and 110kg Bullock will serve as Power Forward to a Supercats line up that is looking to continue the clubs run of finals campaigns.
The 22 year old Bullock who is from Flint Michigan, played his college basketball at Cleveland State University where he led the team in scoring all four years and rebounding three years. He led his team to the league title and the second round of the NCAA tournament (including a big win over power house Wake Forrest) in 2008/09 while averaging 15.2ppg and 7.1rpg.
“J’Nate looks to be a great fit for our club. We were really keen to find a player who could give us physical presence at both ends of the floor and someone who will lead by example. His college numbers speak for themselves but when talking to his coaches and scouts they all spoke about his amazing work ethic, coachability and competitive spirit. This is what convinced us he is the right guy” Head Coach Jamie O’Loughlin said.
“J’Nate will no doubt bring a power game to the group but he also has the ability to play on the perimeter and defend three positions. This wide range of skills is a huge asset, he can play a number of positions, much in the same way that Isma’il and Jason and Nathan already do. The team has a lot of flexibility”
The club has retained its core group from 2009, led by Captain Braith Cox, and including Isma’il Muhammad, Nathan Herbert, Jason Reardon, Nick Owusu, Daniel George and Jamie Medved.
The announcement of the player roster for 2010 has seen a mix of the old and the new as the Supercats bring new blood into the team and endeavour to use the talents and mentoring of experienced players to assist in their transition to the league.
The opportunities given to the rookie list in particular is a refreshing approach by Coach Jamie O’loughlin says General Manager David Hoey. “Jamie has been able to encompass all that the Supercats want to reflect by offering pathways and opportunities for developing players to move comfortably into the higher levels of sport.
This is all about giving local players experience and opportunities at the highest level available”.
