As well as his role as league chair, McMenamin was invloved with Kilsyth as the Vice President of the Kilsyth and Mountain District Basketball Association and was also involved with Basketball Stadiums Victoria, managing many stadiums throughout the state.

His loss will be felt widely across the basketball community.

Hugh is survived by his wife Jan and daughters Claire, Allison and Erica, son in law Jason and grandson Patrick.

The players, Staff and Board of the St Laurence Geelong Supercats offer their sincere condolences to Hugh's family. At Friday's home game against Nunawading, both teams will wear black armbands and observe a minutes silence in Hugh McMenamin's honour.
