St Laurence Geelong Supercats’ guard, Jamie Medved, will require surgery on his right shoulder, which was injured on Saturday night against Albury / Wodonga. The number of weeks he misses will be confirmed after consultation with his surgeon early next week.
Medved has undergone medical assessments this week to establish the full extent of the injury. His surgeon will determine a treatment plan and rehabilitation will commence after surgery. It is difficult to predict how long he will be out until surgery is complete and rehabilitation commences. However, shoulder injuries that involve surgery usually require months of rehabilitation. Medved started the season strongly averaging 15 points per game and was playing with his renowned high intensity. Head coach Mark Leader is disappointed to lose such a key player. “Jamie has started the season very strongly and we are disappointed he will be missing for a long time, but I am sure he will be working hard at rehab to get back as soon as he can.” Leader said. The Supercats fly to Canberra this weekend for a tough double header with AIS and Canberra before the much anticipated home game on April 11th against Jamal Brown’s Ballarat Miners. |
