Accolades keep coming for Muhammad

The awards just keep coming for St Laurence Geelong Supercats star Isma'il Muhammad, today he was named 2010 Crazy John's

 SEABL Defensive Player of the Year for the South Conference.

The Defensive Player of the Year award is determined through votes cast by head coaches at the conclusion of each match, and was awarded for the first time last year.

SOUTH MEN

Finishing the regular season as the second best defensive rebounder and fourth best shot blocker, Geelong Supercats forward Isma'il Muhammad is rewarded as the South Men Defensive Player of the Year Award.  Muhammad was an intimidating force in the paint for most opposition teams, and finished with 18 votes to finish ahead of last years winner Chuck Long on 13 votes.

Isma'il is Player of the Month...Again!

The St Laurence Geelong Supercats star import Isma'il Muhammad has stamped himself the firm favorite for league's Most Valuable Player honours earning his second Player Of The Month award for the season in July.

From the SEABL website:  Averaging 24.9pts, 10.8rebs, 4.3ass, 1stl and 1blk and helping his team to a 6-1 record for the month of July gives exciting import Ismail Muhammad his second monthly award this year.  Muhammad was outstanding during July scoring 30+pts on three occasions and earning Player of the Week recognition in round 17 for producing 33pts@71%, 16rebs and 5ass against Sandringham.  Muhammad started the month with 24pts, 7rebs and 7ass in a win against Brisbane, and despite being held to 13pts against Kilsyth in rd20 was still able to record 7rebs, 9ass and 4blks.  Muhammad dominated the game in rd 19 against Frankston scoring 31pts, 5rebs and 5ass.

Muhammad also was Player of the Month in April.

Supercats to Host Grand Final

August 7: St Laurence Geelong Supercats 93 (J. Bullock 30, N. Herbert 20, B. Cox 13, D. George 13) defeated Nunawading Spectres 82 (S. McDonald 19, M. Hicks 16, C. Cameron 14, G. Leonard14) at Nunawading Indoor Recreation Centre.

The St Laurence Geelong Supercats will host the Crazy John’s South East Australian Basketball League South Conference Grand Final after a stunning 11 point win over minor premiers Nunawading at Nunawading on Saturday night.
