May 15: St Laurence Geelong Supercats 113 (I. Muhammad 31, J. Medved 19, N. Herbert 19) defeated North West Tasmania Thunder 100 (J. Dowdell 26, B. Armstrong 23, S. Gary 21) at Ulverstone Sports and Entertainment Centre.

The St Laurence Geelong Supercats have split their 2 game weekend in Tasmania losing to the Hobart Chargers at Aurora Stadium in Hobart on Friday night before defeating North West Tasmania at Ulverstone on Saturday night.

The SEABL have awarded the April Player of the month award to St Laurence Geelong Supercats Isma'il Muhammad and Coach of the Month to Jamie O'Loughlin.

Muhammad was outstanding in the Month of April averaging 21.6pts, 11.4rebs, 4.4ass, 2blks, 2stls and shot at a consistent 52% from the field.  Muhammad guided his club to 5 wins for the month and played a pivotal role in the Supercats 105-90 O/T victory over Nunawading in round 5, playing the entire 45mins and recording 17pts, 19rebs, 3ass and 5blks.

Starting the month of April with a 2-3 record and in fifth position on the South Men ladder, Jamie lifted his team to a 5-0 record for the month and moved up into third position on the ladder.  This is O’Loughlin first season as a head coach after numerous years as an assistant to Mark Leader with the Supercats.  With an experienced team of veterans and talented youngsters at his disposal Jamie has put the Supercats back into Championship contention win great wins over Sandringham (106-75), NW Tasmania (111-89) and a 105-90 overtime victory on the road at Nunawading.

The St Laurence Geelong Supercats have squandered a 20 point quarter time lead to loose to their nemesis the Frankston Blues by 10 points at the Arena on Saturday night.

The St Laurence Geelong Supercats have announced the signing of 201cm Power Forward Dominic Friend from Nicholls State University.

Dominic, the son of former Geelong West (VFA) footballer John Friend, grew up in Geelong and played local basketball for Try Boys and the Geelong Junior Representative Program. During this time Friend also played in the Victorian Country U16 and U18 teams before winning a National Championship with the Victorian U20 team in February 2006.
